Yes, this was the guest bedroom at my house.
One too many jewelry jars from Goodwill!!!
I have been weeding through jewelry bought in jewelry jars from Goodwill and getting rid of what I didn't want. It has been exhausting to the point that I actually told my husband I didn't think I EVER wanted to see jewelry again. We had cleaned it out, gone thru it, and sold it on Youtube in auctions and pop up showcases. The auctions would sometimes go 6 or 7 hours, and they were loads of fun. However, then came all the paperwork, sorting, weighing, billing, packing, etc... Trips to the post office were the final step in cleaning out this mess.
Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I did keep several baskets of jewelry for myself that I intend to clean and wear. As we sorted through the jewelry, when Ken would look with the jeweler's loupe and say there was an "M," (MONET) I informed him it stood for MINE! I love Monet jewelry. I have a "few pieces" I have kept.
And, some other pieces.
But, I have redone the guest bedroom, sort of, and I thought I would share with you what I have done so far. It is not done, and it was not a high budget redo. LOL.
This room is now so relaxing in pink and grey. I even have a corner nook to listen to my Spanish Lessons tapes and CDs....(also from Goodwill!)
Moved bed to center of window.
My Spanish lesson corner
Cuckoo clock from Goodwill new in box under $10
Notice the milkglass dish of pearls on the night stand
Floor lamp was $6 at Goodwill
Murano art glass from thrift store!
The milkglass lamp was my Aunt Lois' and as soon as I get another table or shelf, I will use two of these beside the bed and move gray lamp to dresser. Dresser was $10 at Habitat for Humanity RESTORE.
We bought this very nice chair many, many year go for our first living room. Footstool was from Goodwill!
Oh, and about that not seeing jewelry again.......i bought another jewelry jar yesterday! Here is the video of the unjarring.
This is one of those experiences that is only funny after the fact. We came out to the car and couldn't stop laughing! But, the temperature in the car was not too chill before we went in...... It All started with those dumb coupons on your Dollar General receipt. You may have seen them or used them. $5 off $25 or occasionally $10 off $40, good only one Saturday. Dollar General is the only store remotely close to us. ( Hum the Cheers song..."where everybody knows your name.") Ken needed something for his grill-out tonight and he had a $5 off coupon. He asked if I wanted to go, but we had already gotten groceries. But, as I perused the digital coupons and saw a $10 off $40. Oh, boy!! So, I hatched a plan that I would buy $40.00 worth of food for meals and a few side items to accompany the meat in our chest freezer for only $30. This was a brilliant, money saving idea, and I was jumping at the bit to put it into motion. Going down the country road to DG, as we call...
Funny stories don't usually come via the Obituaries, but that is just what happened to me today. I used to question why people picked up the newspaper and went straight to the obits. Now that I am of a certain age, I understand. Daily I read the email obituaries from the local newspaper, or what is left of it. Often, perusing the names of the deceased and their kin will jog your memory of someone or some event that you haven't thought of in ages. Today, there was the photograph and long obituary of a lady from the church in which I grew up. Her late husband is the one who I am sharing this story about; it is 100% true. This church was the largest, most affluent Baptist church in town. It was what you would call "high church," although absent some of the liturgy used in Methodist, Presbyterian and Episcopal churches. You had to walk up a very large set of steps as though you were entering a Roman temple. (In later years, an elevator was installed for ...
"It was the best of times and it was the worst of times," ....really. Now that it is over, we have laughed harder and longer than we have ever laughed in our lives. Yet, we could easily have been shot or, at best, arrested. It all started Saturday when we went on a spur of the moment little trip to Small Town, Virginia, to source some unique jewelry items for our Thursday night costume jewelry AUCTIONS on YouTube. We had hit a few antique malls and thrift stores, and we were headed back home. We had just pulled back into Tennessee when I spotted an "Estate Sale" sign in an older, unfamiliar neighborhood. Ken, who was in the wrong lane, hit his signal light and whipped into the right lane and turned. But, he drove past the road where the sign was and we had to circle a hilly block to come back to the house with several cars parked around it. So, Ken parked in front and we walked a steep incline. With each step I felt my sciatica knee pain worsen....the past fe...
Sweet guest room!
