Jewelry Jar Adventures: "It was the best of times and the worst of times"

It had been a few weeks since I felt the thrill of reaching into a jewelry jar. Recently unemployed and looking at big car repair bill, I had been selling off a lot of my excess and unused jewelry to friends on Youtube. I had bags and wrapping materials spread all around the guest bedroom amidst the already-big explosion of jewelry in sandwich bags, sorted into tubs and flowing over. The thought of bringing in more of it just seemed preposterous and overwhelming.

But I did.....I bought one for $19.95 that turned out to be the biggest dud you ever saw.  I was heart sick and disgusted with myself.  lol!

But the next day we were in Goodwill and I bought another one I could not turn down at a very cheap price.  Well, it was the best I ever bought! Tons of Monet, which is my very favorite jewelry in the entire world!






Well, the next day, I got another jewelry jar. It was $12.50, and it came from the same place the dud jar came from.  I got it because I thought she was going to reduce it to "make it up to me."  Well, she didn't, but I bought it anyway.  WELL, I got a gold anklet that fetched me $50 at the gold place!!  Yay!!!

You definitely win some and lose some!  But, it is a lot of fun, and is a great way to build your Youtube channel.  There are tons of people who LOVE watching someone else open their jewelry jars, too.  There is a community of jewelry jar addicts! Really, there are some wonderful folks who enjoy this and do it for fun and profit.  We end up selling each other the stuff we can't wear,  Someone remarked that one day we will be buying back the things we actually sold once upon a time.

  This is one of those experiences that is only funny after the fact.  We came out to the car and couldn't stop laughing! But, the temperature in the car was not too chill before we went in...... It All started with those dumb coupons on your Dollar General receipt. You may have seen them or used them. $5 off $25 or occasionally $10 off $40, good only one Saturday. Dollar General is the only store remotely close to us. ( Hum  the Cheers song..."where everybody knows your name.")  Ken needed something for his grill-out tonight and he had a $5 off coupon. He asked if I wanted to go, but we had already gotten groceries. But, as I perused the digital coupons and saw a $10 off $40. Oh, boy!! A giggle from the past

Funny stories don't usually come via the Obituaries, but that is just what happened to me today. I used to question why people picked up the newspaper and went straight to the obits. Now that I am of a certain age, I understand. Daily I read the email obituaries from the local newspaper, or what is left of it.   Often, perusing the names of the deceased and their kin will jog your memory of someone or some event that you haven't thought of in ages.  Today, there was the photograph and long obituary of a lady from the church in which I grew up. Her late husband is the one who I am sharing this story about; it is 100% true.   This church was the largest, most affluent Baptist church in town. You won't believe it......

"It was the best of times and it was the worst of times," ....really.  Now that it is over, we have laughed harder and longer than we have ever laughed in our lives. Yet, we could easily have been shot or, at best, arrested. It all started Saturday when we went on a spur of the moment little trip to Small Town, Virginia, to source some unique jewelry items for our Thursday night costume jewelry AUCTIONS on YouTube. We had hit a few antique malls and thrift stores, and we were headed back home. We had just pulled back into Tennessee when I spotted an "Estate Sale" sign in an older, unfamiliar neighborhood. Ken, who was in the wrong lane, hit his signal light and whipped into the right lane and turned.  But, he drove past the road where the sign was and we had to circle a hilly block to come back to the house with several cars parked around it.
