Painting the Roses Red: A reflection on a friend
Painting the Roses Red
We're painting the roses redWe dare not stop
Or waste a drop
So let the paint be spread
We're painting the roses red
We're painting the roses red
Oh, painting the roses red
And many a tear we shed
Because we know
They'll cease to grow
In fact, they'll soon be dead
And yet we go ahead
Painting the roses red
From Alice in Wonderland
I lost a friend today; the entire YouTube Jewelry Community is grieving along with her flesh and blood family and friends. It is inevitable that there are many people whose life will be noticeably dimmer without Bekki's sparkling smile and sugar plum sweetness. Across social media tonight, the pain and shock is palpable. That is why I am sitting here at 5 a.m. reflecting on Bekki's untimely death.
But, is there ever really an "untimely" death? If you believe in God, as Bekki did, you must acknowledge that the matters of life and death are ultimately in His Hands. Our human hearts, however, cry out in pain and our frail understanding can't grasp the reality of the finality!
Forever Young
Bekki's Youtube moniker was "Painting the Roses Red." I think that this truly summed up the person she was. She was perpetually positive, always sunny and cheerful. She loved anything Disney and Disney World. She seemed to live her life with that colorful sense of wonder and fun every day. You could imagine her going through the day singing "Hakuna Matata," meaning "no worries."
Those who got to know her on Youtube Auctions were used to her disposition in the chat....she lit up the chatroom with just her written words. She was always kind and eager to include everyone in her warmth; she had a way of making you feel special and appreciated, regardless of who you were.
Ethics...otherwise known as "walking the walk"
More than once I received messages from a concerned Bekki that she thought I had NOT charged her enough shipping for her purchases in our auction. If there was an extra gift or item thrown in the package, she would be very concerned that we had accidentally shipped someone else's item to her. It was always refreshing and would restore my faith in people, at least temporarily.
Sometimes, you can judge a book by its cover....
OR, at least by their Facebook Profile Page!
The background Bekki had chosen for her homepage image said:
Quit being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive about what could go right.
This was just one of many positive, inspiring quotes sprinkled across her Facebook page, As a person who often struggles with anxiety, I pray that God will help me become MORE like Bekki.
Psalm 116:15 says:
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. (KJV)
I know God wanted to enjoy Bekki's spirit of joy, and she is happy and blessed tonight. I KNOW that I KNOW that she had a real relationship with Jesus Christ, which is what it takes to enter into a heavenly hereafter. This brings us comfort! It is my prayer that Josh, her husband, and her family receive comfort from God.
Love,
barbie
