Goodwill Jewelry Jar Addiction: "Quick, get rid of the evidence!"

I have been buying Goodwill Jewelry Jars for quite a long time. I tried to remember when I started.... I started watching jewelry jar videos about the same time.  What is a jewelry jar video? You can find some on my channel list that I have made.  It is a video filming the thrill of opening a jewelry jar, piece by piece, item by item, allowing other jewelry jar addicts to experience the thrill without the bill!

And, some of the jewelry jars come with a stiff bill. Occasionally, some of the jewelry jars are clunkers....full of either broken pieces, junk or Mardi Gras Beads.  Yet, those of us who love the thrill of it know that most of these jars have some wonderful treasures inside. You might also find silver or gold, although, the gold is rare.  When you find that .925 mark, it is a big celebration. Well, until you get to the gold/silver shop where you realize that silver brings like .04 a ton!

If you look in the spare bedroom above, you will see the treasures I have accumulated over the time I have been collecting costume jewelry.  I took all the empty glass vases and containers down to the garage to hide the evidence mainly from myself! I have taken many of them to Goodwill stores and donated them. Once, I decorated a bunch with stick-on decals, and they were actually quite cute. I donated them to be used for jewelry jars, and the store actually sold them as decor items.  I found that comical.  I have to say I did have a wonderful time sticking scrapbook stickers all over them.

I have been sorting this jewelry, pulling what I want to keep and sorting the rest to sell individually and in little lots. Stay tuned for sales and auctions on YouTube.  There is an active jewelry collector community on there where they do auctions and sales regularly.

  This is one of those experiences that is only funny after the fact.  We came out to the car and couldn't stop laughing! But, the temperature in the car was not too chill before we went in...... It All started with those dumb coupons on your Dollar General receipt. You may have seen them or used them. $5 off $25 or occasionally $10 off $40, good only one Saturday. Dollar General is the only store remotely close to us. ( Hum  the Cheers song..."where everybody knows your name.")  Ken needed something for his grill-out tonight and he had a $5 off coupon. A giggle from the past

Funny stories don't usually come via the Obituaries, but that is just what happened to me today. I used to question why people picked up the newspaper and went straight to the obits. Now that I am of a certain age, I understand. Daily I read the email obituaries from the local newspaper, or what is left of it.   Often, perusing the names of the deceased and their kin will jog your memory of someone or some event that you haven't thought of in ages.  Today, there was the photograph and long obituary of a lady from the church in which I grew up. Her late husband is the one who I am sharing this story about; it is 100% true.   This church was the largest, most affluent Baptist church in town. You won't believe it......

"It was the best of times and it was the worst of times," ....really.  Now that it is over, we have laughed harder and longer than we have ever laughed in our lives. Yet, we could easily have been shot or, at best, arrested. It all started Saturday when we went on a spur of the moment little trip to Small Town, Virginia, to source some unique jewelry items for our Thursday night costume jewelry AUCTIONS on YouTube. We had hit a few antique malls and thrift stores, and we were headed back home. We had just pulled back into Tennessee when I spotted an "Estate Sale" sign in an older, unfamiliar neighborhood. Ken, who was in the wrong lane, hit his signal light and whipped into the right lane and turned.  But, he drove past the road where the sign was and we had to circle a hilly block to come back to the house with several cars parked around it.
